Let’s break the myth of the starving artist. Creative arts and industries are proving to be a leading force in today’s economy. In fact, the creative sector is outclassing previously dominant industries such as international trade and tourism. In Los Angeles County alone, industries such as fashion, architecture, product design and entertainment have an economic impact of more that one million jobs and roughly $224 billion.
With such strong promise in creative careers, why is advanced digital arts education most often reserved for specialized programs on the college level? Parents know as well as educators that children have an amazing ability to absorb information. Here at Appleseed Schoolhouse we recognize a gap between the youth’s enthusiasm for computers and our education system’s support in turning that enthusiasm into a prosperous and fulfilling career.
